BIS Certification for Toys in India | IS 9873 Requirements

BIS certification for toys (3)-min

Description

As per the Toys Quality Control Ordinance, 2020, BIS certification is mandatory for all toys meant for children below the age of 14. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made it mandatory for both electric and non-electric toys to bear the ISI mark. Toys without this symbol will not be allowed to be sold in the country. Failure to comply with these rules may result in serious consequences, including criminal liability, including possible imprisonment and heavy fines. The directive, issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, DPIIT, aims to prevent the proliferation of inferior toys in the market.

Under this agreement, BIS has started issuing licenses to toy manufacturers to use the BIS Standard Mark in accordance with Scheme I and Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Rules, 2018. This requirement applies uniformly to all toys imported into India and makes it mandatory for foreign manufacturers to also obtain BIS certification, as is required for all toy manufacturers operating in India.

At Max Solution Consulting Services, we provide advice and documentation support and help you understand the specific requirements of the ISI certification process to ensure your application is complete and meets all required standards.
