Understanding the PSLE New Scoring System

revenue-operations-concept_23-2150902406 (1)

The Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in Singapore is undergoing a significant change with the introduction of a new scoring system. The aim is to shift away from a focus solely on academic grades towards a more holistic assessment of students’ abilities and achievements.

Under the new scoring system, students will receive Achievement Levels (ALs) instead of T-scores. ALs range from AL1 to AL8, with AL1 being the highest and AL8 being the lowest. This change is intended to reduce the fine differentiation among high-scoring students and provide a broader range of scores to better reflect students’ abilities.
