Description

Helldivers 2 has a special talent for making a perfectly reasonable mission plan look ridiculous within minutes. A squad may land with a clear objective, collect a few resources, and then discover that an enemy patrol has chosen that exact moment to ruin everything. Helldivers 2 Samples encourage players to explore the battlefield rather than simply follow the shortest path, and the current Void campaign makes that exploration more interesting than ever. The August 12 Devoid of Liberty update introduced mutated Illuminate enemies, SEAF battlefield support, new progression ranks up to level 300, and a new push toward the Void.

The Void is not just another destination on the Galactic War map. According to the update, planets closer to the Void have suffered strange mutations, making reconnaissance a major part of the new campaign. That gives squads another reason to pay attention to their surroundings instead of treating every mission as a simple run from objective A to objective B.

The new enemy designs also change the way players should think about combat. The Wretch is fast and difficult to ignore, meaning a player who spends too much time aiming at a distant target can suddenly find a dangerous enemy directly in front of them. The Crusher takes the opposite approach, relying on heavy protection and persistent pressure. Fighting both at once requires players to divide attention carefully.

Target priority becomes a major skill in these situations. The biggest enemy is not always the most urgent one. A fast attacker disrupting the formation may need to be removed first, while a heavily protected enemy can require coordinated attacks from several teammates.

This creates opportunities for different squad roles. A player with fast-handling equipment can watch for mobile threats. Another player can concentrate on heavier targets. A support-focused Helldiver can protect the team with defensive Stratagems, while another player handles the mission objective.

SEAF support makes these encounters even more unusual. SEAF squads can now join Helldivers during certain missions and bring specialized capabilities, including heavy weapons and medical support. The squad leader can also direct the group, creating more battlefield activity around the player team.

That does not mean Helldivers can simply stand back and let the SEAF handle everything. The best use of additional allies is often to create breathing room. While SEAF troops attract enemy attention or contribute firepower, Helldivers can reposition, complete an objective, or prepare the next Stratagem.

This also makes communication useful even for experienced squads. A quick callout can tell teammates which enemy needs attention, where the next objective is located, or when an explosive attack is about to land. Without communication, four players can easily spend their strongest attacks on the same target while something much more dangerous approaches from the side.

Weapon selection should support this teamwork. A squad with several players using similar equipment may have impressive firepower but obvious weaknesses. A more varied group can respond to a wider range of situations. The ideal combination depends on the mission, faction, terrain, and personal playstyle.

Ammunition management is another overlooked part of equipment planning. Powerful weapons can be tempting to use against every enemy, but wasting ammunition on low-priority targets can create problems later. Sometimes a standard primary weapon is enough. Saving specialized equipment for the enemy that actually requires it can make the final stages of a mission much safer.

The same logic applies to Stratagem cooldowns. A spectacular attack is satisfying, but spending it immediately can leave the squad without an emergency solution when the situation becomes worse. Experienced players often keep at least one reliable option available for unexpected encounters.

The current update also raised the level cap from 150 to 300, adding 15 new titles along the way. Players who had accumulated experience beyond the old level cap can carry that progress forward, making the expanded progression system especially relevant to long-time Helldivers.

New players have another reason to experiment because Helldivers 2 is now part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog. The timing alongside Devoid of Liberty means a larger audience is entering the game just as the Galactic War moves toward a new frontier.

For beginners, the smartest approach is to avoid chasing complexity too quickly. A reliable weapon, one dependable support option, and a few familiar Stratagems can provide a strong foundation. Once movement, aiming, objective management, and extraction become comfortable, experimenting with more specialized equipment becomes much easier.

Veterans can take the opposite approach. With hundreds of levels now available, new enemies to study, and SEAF support changing some
